Research Triangle

Of the several hundred research and science parks in the country, Research Triangle Park is the oldest continuously operating one, ranked among the largest and successfully-growing parks globally. RTP is home to a broad array of companies, from Fortune 100 multinational research and development operations, to university spin-outs and start-up operations. A number of federal agencies also have a presence in the Park.

In 2013, Google named Cary the eCity for North Carolina. This title was based on Cary’s use of the Internet to interact with customers and clients and to boost the economy. The Town’s growth of innovation and e-commerce were strong factors in the decision, along with almost 100 percent of Cary’s population having access to the Internet. Cary’s proximity to Research Triangle Park was an additional factor.
