I came on a Saturday morning right when they opened at 10am. The display of baked goods was pristine and the world was our oyster. My wife and I ended up getting a scallion bun with rou song (meat floss.. trust me it tastes better than it sounds), a matcha swirl bun with sliced almonds, and an ube bun. Everything tasted great - the bread was so soft and pillowy, the flavors were all spot-on. My favorite was the ube bun, which was filled with ube paste and packed with flavor. I just couldn't get over the texture of the bread - it's so soft. The sweet pastries weren't super sweet, which I appreciated.
I also ordered the taro milk bubble tea (with 25% sweetness) and it was just the right companion to the pastries. The boba was the right consistency, the flavors were good, and I enjoyed it all.
The place is set up so you go to the pastries section first if you want something there, and you pick whichever pastries you want (self-serve), then you go to the register to pay for the pastries and order a drink and desserts from the dessert case if you'd like. Even though this is how most Asian pastry shops are set up, it's a bit confusing because you have to walk into the store and to the left, somewhat past the register, before you get to the pastry case. There is signage that tries to explain everything, but as first timers, we had to slowly figure our way around.
The service was quick and friendly. There is a lot of seating inside, and plenty of options of pastries and drinks to choose from. I will be back to try more!
Pro tip: Come early if you can, because not only will you get all the pastries fresh, but by the time we left around 11am, the line was ridiculously long. When we got there at 10am, there was no line and all the pastries were lined up pristinely in the case.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - B L T.Fayetteville, NC64338164Apr 27, 2024
Taiwanese style pastries. Ran by folks from India.
Got here around 11:30ish that place was full. Long lines for tasty pastries, cakes, ice cream and boba.
Self-service and lots to choose from. If you are tired of eating big breakfasts, come down to Brecotea and have some fruit passion tea, milkshakes, or coffee. It's not Starbucks or Kung Fu tea but their not so sweet pastries are on point. I like the Ube doughnut and the boba brown sugar milk (taro). Best tasting boba latte I had since I was in Seattle. The decor is simple. They do have outdoor seating.
I will come back to try the tea and milkshakesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Britney P.Athens-Clarke County unified government (balance), GA02636Jan 8, 2024
I've been to Brecotea a few times and I do enjoy coming. My favorite thing to get is the chicken curry donut and the pineapple bun. They have a large variety of flavors and types of buns/bread to choose from along with desserts(cake) and milk tea. I usually go for the buns because I enjoy them the most. The only reason I'm taking one star off is because I don't like some of their classics. The egg tart I got one time was not the best and the red bean bun filling was not my favorite (also there wasn't much in it). My recommendation is to just try because they have good buns! You just have to find one you like.
The people at the counter are super nice and they are helpful if trays run out. The store can get a little busy so there's not always seating on the weekend during lunch but the line to checkout moves quickly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 418353536Apr 27, 20241 check-in
Stopped in here after running the water for the people 5K race and Apex I had won a gift certificate had never been here before It was pretty awesome it's self-service where you select the different pastry items that you want and then they offer all different types of teas and coffees that you can get as well It was a super quick in and out experience I tried the coconut custard pastry absolutely delicious they had some pretty creative stuff in their case definitely not the place you want to go if you're on a low calorie diet but it's a great place to go if you're treating yourself for doing amazing job running

Boba brown sugar lacked brown sugar - in both the drink and the boba
We also came much earlier than normal - 415pm on a Sunday and the case of breads is already empty :(Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 17, 2023
Came in on a rainy day and was surprised at how spacious this place is! Lots of seating and places to work, it was a great way to get away from the bad weather.
We grabbed a few pastries and buns and got the avocado milk paradise tea and a latte. They do have plant milk/nondairy options, but they can run out.
We had great service and the staff was very friendly. Shoutout to Paola!
8/10 - some of the tables/chairs were too close to each other (it felt like we were on top of the party next to us)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 12, 2024
Place is very cute. I enjoyed the orchid oolong and would go back for the drinks but wasn't a fan of the baked goods. I got the coffee cake which didn't have any flavor and the ube and red bean bun which did not taste fully cooked. I would come back to try again and see if other pastries are better

A must go in Cary. You go in, grab a tray and tongs, and go to the amazing golden case of pastry. Then you select your treats, head to the dessert case (if you're feeling ice cream or cake), then go to pay or order your drink!
Today I got an ube bun (the bright purple one) and a carmelized custard. The ube bun itself is soft and fluffy, and mildly dense interior-not red bean thick, but a nice smooth mashed potato of dessert. It's sweet but not overly so, and such a treat if you like the fruity sweet potato vibes of ube.
The custard is always a winner: crispy pastry and smooth creamy custard. I am so glad a travel from Winston because I would be here daily and poor.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tamara W.Raleigh, NC834624Apr 13, 2024
So delicious! They were sweet but not too sweet and I loved it! They also have boba tea and other different drinks to try. This is a cranberry and almond twist (at the bottom of the picture" and some kind of croissant. It was so good! Could become a habit.

If you're looking for a classic east Asian bakery, you've come to the right spot. In the evenings most of their baked goods are sold out. I love all their ube baked goods as you can taste the actual ube. These desserts are on the less sweet side, catering to classic East Asian preferences so you'll be disappointed if you want really sweet (western level) baked goods. Their mango yogurt drink is also delicious! I also loved their matcha Mille crepe cake for its robust matcha flavor.
